The Future of Off-Road Racing: Sheldon Creed

sheldon_creed_youngest_pro_driver_feature At just 16 years old, Sheldon Creed is rising the ranks within several off-road super truck divisions and becoming one of the youngest champions in history! Born onto anything with wheels, Sheldon started racing at age 3 and is now piloting vehicles most drivers can only dream of. Progressing from BMX to Motocross, then onto Quarter Midget racing - Sheldon is now accomplishing Pro Lite podium wins against drivers more than twice his age. While he's a force to be reckoned with in current off-road racing, Sheldon has bigger aspirations and doesn't plan on only sticking around trucks forever. Catch this exclusive Q&A with Off-Road driver, Sheldon Creed to learn more about what makes him tick... Sheldon Creed at LOORRS Utah DL: What was the first vehicle and race that you competed in? SC: The first race I ever competed in was BMX, when  I was 3. DL: What is your long term goal? SC: My long term goal is to make it to Nascar, and become a champion at the highest level. DL: What motivates you? SC: Being excited about whatever sport I’m in. I love racing period. Sheldon Creed at LOORRS Utah DL: What other drivers are your favorite? SC: Rob MacCachren, Ryan Dungey, Robby Gordon, Rick Huseman. DL: How supportive are your family and friends in your career? SC: My family is behind me 100% with racing. My close friends know I race and think it’s cool but I don’t talk about it much other than that. DL: Wow...so kids at school don't stop you for an autograph?! SC: Kids at school don’t really know I race and the ones that do don’t really understand what it is. I don’t talk about it that much. Sheldon Creed at LOORRS Utah DL: I bet you meet a lot of fans at events, do you have any embarrasing stories about interactions with them? SC: I haven’t really had any awkward moments with fans so far. Most of the people that come see me are kids that kind of look up to me. DL: What advice would you give to a kid who wants to race professionally? SC: Never give up! DL: Describe an average day for you at the race track. SC: Bare with me, this is my day in order!

A. Wake up. B. Go to drivers meeting. C. Do a track walk. D. Go back and have a  team meeting. E. I sometimes go up as a spotter for Modified karts to help out some friends. F. Head back to the pit and get ready for my qualifying round. G. After qualifying, come back to the pit to discuss the truck with the team and let them know if I want any changes. H. Watch the modified kart race. (I have a lot of friends that race in that class.) I. Go back to the pits and help the crew look over the truck for bent parts, cracks, loose bolts, add fuel , wipe the truck down, put fresh BF-Goodrich Tires on. J. Then I go out for the main event. K. After the race, you have to get through tech the truck back to the pit, wash it and get it ready for the next day. L. In the evening I get to hang out with some friends and get ready to do it all over again.

IMG_0013 DL: What has been your proudest moment in your career? SC: Proudest moment in my career is my first Prolite Win 2013! DL: As a young racer did you learn from anybody specifically as you developed your skills? SC: I didn’t really get my skills from one person, I would go watch all kinds of different racing and drivers and would learn from how they set up their cars. Sheldon Creed at LOORRS Utah DL: One last question for you Sheldon. Explain the most important element of becoming fast on any track? SC: The most important element of being fast on any track is just driving  smooth! An amazing amount of talent in such a young person - his driving ability showcases a tremendous amount of skill and determination! Sheldon Creed is definitely one to keep your eye on, as he continues to climb the motorsports ladder. While it's Off-Road racing now - we wouldn't be surprised to find him in global rallycross, drifting, or even NASCAR in years to come.
