Cruising a Hybrid to MFest

MFest-Lexus-3 Guess who decided to participate in their first MFest caravan and showed up with a Lexus ES300h? I did! MFest-Lexus-2 The joke's on you because I actually had an awesome time making the drive up to Las Vegas while swimming in a sea of Bimmers. Obviously the exterior looks nothing like anything found at MFest, but I wasn't intimidated because interior wise, I felt like I was traveling in the laps of luxury. From elegant wood trim to fancy gizmos in the dash, the ES300h was loaded with everything I would need for a comfy long distance trip. MFest-Lexus-5 The power seats reclined all the way back, so I could easily crawl around the spacious interior and get to any of the windows to position myself for that next awesome shot. The seats themselves were just as comfortable to sit on, as they were to stand on. Whenever I needed to stick my body out of the sunroof to take pictures, my face might have been battling 80+MPH winds and the receiving end for many a bug's untimely demise, but my feet felt like they were standing on clouds…leather clouds. MFest-Lexus-6 There is no M Power for a Lexus hybrid, but whether in Eco or Sport mode, this car did a great job keeping up with the caravan all day long. As a bonus, while BMW owners had to fill up at each stop, I put well over 400 miles over four days before needing to pump a drop of gas into the ES300h. In fact, my favorite thing is the fuel and battery usage display. You could see when the battery was being charged or when the ES300h was drawing power from the battery, the engine or both. It was almost like a video game trying to get the battery charged to full bars. Unfortunately, I always came up one bar short! MFest-Lexus-7 I think I could get used to this hybrid life...
