Lost Angels Children's Project Raffles Off Their 2nd Hot Rod

324A3075 Amazing things happen when people come together. Aaron Valencia had a desire to really make a difference and, with the help of the entire hot rod community has done just that. In 2014, Aaron founded the Lost Angels Children’s Project (LACP) along with Union Rescue Mission (URM) and Grace Resource Center (GRC) to create the first ever "Hotrod Giveaway". 324A3031 Aaron built a stunning 1931 Ford roadster from the ground up. Building a hot rod to give away seemed like an impossible feat at the beginning. He would run into a ton of roadblocks with would-be sponsors, not yet ready to trust what the outcome would be. It was a noble cause and he was able to get a good amount of parts under sponsorship, but not all of them that first year.  While the car was still being put together, twenty-dollar tickets were sold for a chance to win the giveaway hotrod car – this money both helped fund the rest of the build and it put money in the hands of those that needed it most, the kids dealing with homelessness at a young age. 324A3082 The finished car was unveiled at the 2014 Ventura Nationals car show, where many more raffle tickets were purchased. All-in-all $34,000 was raised and donated to the children and youth development program of URM and GRC… and one lucky person walked away with an awesome new hot rod. 324A3044 With the success of the LACP Hotrod Giveaway in 2014, Aaron and a dedicated group of volunteers have been busy with the build for 2015's giveaway. This time it’s a 1936 Ford coupe, fully restored and customized. The estimated cost of the project is $30k (and tons of man hours) and the goal is to raise $100k through raffle ticket sales. 100% of the profit will be donated to URM and GRC. 324A3061 LACP is currently making the finishing touches to the ‘36 Ford to be unveiled at and raffled off during the 2015 Ventura Nationals on Labor Day weekend, September 5th.
