Rétromobile - Go Big or Go Home, Tiger II Combat Tank

2015 Retromobile My final choice of Rétromobile has arguably the baddest, meanest stance of any vehicle you are likely to encounter. Forget lowriders, this mean machine, the Panzerkampfwagen Vl Tiger ll Ausf. B "Königstiger", was the most powerful combat tank to be deployed in World War ll. Just looking at this huge weapon gives one the urge to flee, but Allied troops on both fronts stood their ground and took on the King Tiger, they surely had 'The Right Stuff'. 2015 Retromobile Originally put out for design tender to Henschel and Porsche, the contact was awarded to the former, though production was limited to 489 tanks due to material and labour shortages and the damage inflicted during the allied bombing campaign. Powered by a 23 litre 12 cylinder Maybach petrol engine and weighing in at around 70 tons and sporting an 88mm gun and 18 cm of frontal armour, the Tiger ll was virtually impregnable. 2015 Retromobile The King Tiger's biggest weakness was its thirst for fuel, which by that stage of the war was in very short supply in the Third Reich. The tank saw action on both Eastern and Western Fronts as the Allies closed in on Germany but was unable to change the course of the war. It remains a very impressive machine. Go big or go home – We'll I went through it all, went big, and now it's finally time to go home! Until next time Rétromobile!
