Return of the Rotary: Mazda RX-VISION Concept

Kicking off the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show was one major concept: the Mazda RX-VISION Concept, boasting the next generation silhouette of the RX-7/8 where the Japanese automaker left off at. Though it's a long way from production, it's a positive step into the right direction - the RX-VISION design is sleek, and if all goes according to plan, it'll be a FR-based chassis (front engine, rear wheel drive) powered by a SKYACTIV-R rotary motor. For Mazda, the rotary engine is symbolic to the company's spirit, which is to "never stop challenging". Though it's not currently in mass production, Mazda hopes the next generation rotary will push the boundaries of technology and has big plans for the SKYACTIV-R once it comes to fruition. Our fingers are crossed that a "RX-9/FE-3S" comes to market in the near future with the familiar brrrappp-brrrappp sound we've been longing for. 05_RX-VISION_H We've already caught Photoshopped versions of the RX-VISION Concept, and dig these as well: Screen Shot 2015-10-28 at 2.25.34 PM "Mad" Mike Whiddett-edition anyone?
